Theodore J. Holmes: taught from 1853-1856 in the Asylum for the Deaf and Dumb in Hartford, Ct.; entered Union Theological Seminary, and in 1861 became minister of the Congregational Church in East Hartford, Ct.; in 1863 enlisted with the Union Army as Chaplain of the 1st Connecticut Cavalry and served until 1865; later held pastorates in Brooklyn, Baltimore, Newton Center, Hopkinton (Mass.), and Richmond (Vermont).
